Thomas Ryan

I am the CEO of skinnyCorp, a company that creates online communities, the largest of which is Threadless, a community-based t-shirt design company that has helped to popularize the trend of "crowdsourcing." Additionally, I am on the board of directors of social music company Smule, and I am an investor/adviser to several digital music and media ventures.

Prior skinnyCorp, I was an EIR at Bessemer Venture Partners. Before that, I spent a decade as an entrepreneur and executive in the digital music business. I oversaw EMI Music's global digital business as SVP of digital strategy, and I worked at Virgin Mobile USA, eMusic, and Cductive (a pioneering mp3 music retailer that I founded and sold to eMusic).

I'm a New Yorker living in Chicago with my wife Anjannette and our French bulldog Lola. Aside from the intersection of the arts and technology, my interests include languages, electronic music, travel and beer (particularly Belgian trappist ales and certain American IPAs). Occasionally, I dust off my records and perform as DJ White Chocolate. I hold an AB from Dartmouth College and an MBA from INSEAD in France.
